Welcome to the Willington Arts Festival 2012 offering a chance for local people to showcase their creative and artistic skills, try out new arts and crafts and experience live music in concerts and at other events around the village.

2012 will see some changes to the festival programme with Saturday being given over to a mix of workshops / activities and Sunday and Monday focusing mainly on the Arts Trail

Join us on Saturday May 5th to take part in a range of creative workshops, including weaving, drawing, pottery, card maing, collage and jewellery and on Sunday and Monday to follow the arts trail around the village to view the work of more than 20 artists.

 

 

The 2012 Arts Festival will be held over the bank holiday weekend of May 5, 6 & 7 and provide a wide range of events and activities, giving people the chance to get involved in arts and crafts on the Saturday and enjoy the Arts Trail and other activities on the Sunday and Monday.

WORKSHOPS

Getting involved will be a key feature of this years event with a Saturday May 5 packed with workshops providing a whole day of activities for all ages, including Creative Crafts and a Big Weave, drawing, pottery, collage, circus skills, Djembe Drumming and a bead workshop.

ARTS TRAIL

The Arts Trail, open on Sunday and Monday (May 6 & 7) will feature work from over 20 artists in a variety of locations around the village. Enjoy a wide mix of media including oils, water colours, acrylics, photography, mosaic, wood and jewellery.

LIVE MUSIC

Live Music at trhe Dragon@Willington on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

The festival will end with a concert of Gipsy Jazz / East European Swing featuing Maniere des Bohemiens on Monday Monday May 7.

COMPETITIONS

There will be things to spot along the Arts Trail, as well as the chance for budding photographers to email in their photos of the village

DJ WORKSHOPS

Learn all about DJ equipment, set up, beat matching, track mixing, cutting and reload techniques from a professional lDJ

and new this year

PAMPERED PIGS

10 decorated pigs will make their appearance at the festival weekend, and hopefully become a growing feature of the festival in future years.

THE PLINTH

Our modest version of the Trafalger Square Plinth, located at the Green, will provide a stage in the middle of the village on which people can showcase their talents and businesses their products or services.
