The 2010 Arts Festival will be held over the bank holiday weekend of May 1, 2 & 3 giving people the chance to take in as many events as possible as well as take part through workshops and competitions.

ARTS TRAIL

There will be exhibits from a wide range of visual arts and crafts from Willington and Derbyshire

Visitors will be able to purchase a trail guide (@ £2 per adult) at several points in the village: this is the entrance "ticket" to the exhibitions. A map will show where each of the activities can be found with a list of the exhibitors at each venue. To add interest to the trail it will also highlight and give details of the points of historic interest in Willington. Trail guides will also include a photo competition which can be completed on the walk around the village.

MUSIC CONCERTS

Evening concerts will be staged at the village hall and a number of live perfomances will be staged around the village to accompany the exhibitions. There will be something to suit a range of age groups and musical interests over the festival period.

FILM NIGHT

The festival will offer the chance to see one of the latest family releases in the village hall

WORKSHOPS

As part of making the arts more accessible to the local community the festival will stage a number of art & craft workshops for all ages. These will include banner making, pottery, canal craft, circus skills and "fun with fibres"

COMPETITIONS

A walk around the village will allow you to locate the photos printed in your trail guide, whilst you will also be challenged to create your own 3D sculpture and see who can win the prize for creativity.

YOUTH FOCUS

This years festival has a youth focus with funding allowing the organisers to offer a range of craft workshops, to promote new skills and interests, a film night, again with a family entertainment focus, and a band building project
